The Kingdom of Bahrain is a small island country located in the Persian Gulf. In ancient times, Bahrain has been ruled by Arabs, followed by the Portuguese, and then the Persian Empire. In the 1800’s Bahrain became a protectorate of the United Kingdom. On August 14, 1971, Bahrain declared independence. Bahrain is most known for having some of the world’s best pearl fisheries.
