On October 10, 1868, Cuba was founded. After the Spanish-American war, Spain withdrew its occupancy in 1898, the United States of America signed the Treaty of Paris and gained Cuba. In 1902, Cuba was formally independent from the United States of America. Cuba’s economy thrives with exports of sugar, coffee, tobacco and skilled labor, and is officially referred to as the Republic of Cuba.
