Located in the North Atlantic Ocean is the Island country of Ireland. Known as the Emerald Isle, Ireland has many trees, woodlands, rolling green hills and beautiful green countryside areas. The earliest evidence of man can be dated to 10,500 BC. By the first century, Gaelic Ireland began to flourish. Ireland became part of the United Kingdom in 1801 with the Acts of Union, however by the early 1900’s Ireland was divided. The Irish Free State was founded as the Republic of Ireland on December 29, 1937, while Northern Ireland remained part of the United Kingdom.
